The Electrical Controls & Automation (EC&A) Engineering & Reliability Supervisor leads a team of specialists, reliability engineers and operational engineers to implement Terminal ’s EC&A reliability processes . This position is responsible for EC&A equipment including electrical distribution infrastructure , electrical components, instrumentation, electronics, programmable controllers (including PLCs), terminal automation systems (including interfaces) , controls infrastructure and controls components . The position provides leadership on EC&A reliability scope ranging from day-to-day operational support to strategic improvements .

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interfac es with internal and external stakeholder s including Terminal’s Operating Regions, Business Operations , Business Development , Training, Environmental and Safety, L3S, MPL , G&P and Refining.

  • Manage s personnel assigned to the Electrical Controls & Automation Engineering & Reliability group . Create s a high-performing team environment . Provide s feedback through day-to-day oversight and the performance review process to develop personnel .

  • Ensures team receives adequate training and builds awareness of Terminal and industry standards to develop expertise in areas of responsibility.

  • Provides visible leadership in the application of Terminal ’s Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) for continuous improvement of Terminal Goals and Strategies around EC&A equipment reliability.

  • Demonstrates strong commitment to teamwork, communication, collaboration, continuous improvement, and diversity/inclusion in-line with MPC and Terminal values.

  • Individually and through their team supports Terminal day-to-day operations on equipment inspection, testing , preventative maintenance, and repairs , including participation on operations - critical events such as Stop Help Starts (SHS) . Scope includes field support for EC&A aspects of equi pment.

  • Develops r eliability processes to evaluate equipment performance with focus on condition-based maintenance and predictive analytics using Terminal ’s PI system .

  • Completes reliability failure a nalys e s (RFAs) to understand EC&A equipment breakdowns and identify where improvement is needed to mitigate risk.

  • I mplements operational engineering practices to solve complex engineering problems which may span across multiple Terminal depart ment s and operating areas .

  • Leverages Design Process to ensure Terminal project solutions are efficient and effective . Supports asset construction and commissioning through field specialists and subject matter expert involvement.

  • Reviews all Terminal EC&A equipment standards and advises on variance practices . Ensures Management of Change (MOC) reviews are completed for assigned processes.

  • Provides oversight for assigned project and financial responsibilities including support of capital and expense budge t development , review and justification for new project PIFs , DSP/AFE review s , financial app rovals and in-house projects managed by the EC&A reliability team .

  • Builds and maintains contact s with EC&A equipment vendors to ensure key technical and business relationships are in-place to support Terminal operational needs . Applies relationships to identify emerging equipment trends which may benefit Terminals .

    Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Computer required

    Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience; familiarity with EC&A Terminal equipment required

    Valid Driver's License required
