The Lab Supervisor provides direct supervision and education to laboratory staff, including MLS, MLT, Phlebotomists and interns. He/she must have the versatility to perform procedures in all sections of the laboratory when working weekends, alone, or as workload requirements demand. The Lab Supervisor will be assigned special projects in addition to supervisory duties and will assume responsibility of a section of the lab, or the entire lab when the Lab Manager and Lab Director are absent. This position requires a highly trained, specialized individual who has the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations. The Lab Supervisor works closely with patients, the Pathologist, office staff, physicians, nursing service, and other LRH campus personnel. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The incumbent has access to sensitive, confidential information and must be able to maintain those confidences. The incumbent establishes the work procedures and priorities within imposed deadlines.
