Job Overview:

The Senior Security Specialist uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the security discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Security discipline. The Senior Security Specialist solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Security Specialist impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the security team and other related teams and ensures that they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support Security Manager with site security needs

  • Supervise security guard and security specialist personnel and ensure full engagement with area QHSES personnel

  • Work in conjunction with Security Guard Supervisors and Security Specialists in applying and executing effective security plans

  • Maintain close relationship with designated line supervision

  • Recognize deficiencies and suggest improvements to existing processes

  • Assist in the implementation of specific and measurable goals

  • Review weekly guard schedule and ensure all posts are covered as required

  • Report daily activity and follow up on occurrences and complaints

  • Liaise between employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors

  • Enforce Security Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and project/location-specific guidelines, ensuring McDermott facilities, personnel, and assets are protected

  • Conduct investigations and produce high-quality written reports

  • Maintain security equipment and document findings when damaged or in need of maintenance

  • Conduct security training as required

  • Defuse disturbances in accordance with company policies and procedures

  • Conduct risk assessments and present findings to security management and relevant stakeholders

  • Perform scheduled and random security checks of designated areas throughout the facility

  • Maintain supplies and equipment for the access control system

  • Maintain the Visitor Management System

  • Maintain strong internal & external networks, including with local authorities

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • 7 years of experience in Security, Law Enforcement, or Military, or 1 year as a Security Specialist

  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent

  • Degree or equivalent industry-recognized qualification

  • Must have satisfactory job performance evaluations if an internal promotion

  • Must hold a valid driver's license

  • Must possess all state/federal/national security guard license(s) applicable to the area of operation

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office platform

  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to communicate clearly with all levels of management on business matters

  • Ability to work extended or extra shifts when required

  • Be available to travel if required to support Business Line or Company needs

  • Must pass Fit for Duty as required

  • For USA-based operations, must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)

  • Demonstrates the ability to read and write comprehensive reports for investigation and documentation

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of security and safety

  • Experience and knowledge of various access control platforms (Lenel), video management systems, and incident management applications/software

  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to communicate clearly with all levels of management on business matters
