Job Overview:
Includes electrical design and analysis of an assigned scope of work in a company project including specific complex deliverables such as power generation systems, substation & power distribution systems and lighting & earthing systems. Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, voltage drop calculations, specification development and electrical one-line diagrams.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Proven technical experience in the oil & gas or renewable industries and able to work with minimal supervision
Can deputize as Lead Engineer for middle-sized and large EPC projects and is as such responsible for the technical and commercial quality of the work within in area of responsibility
Proven experience of developing electrical engineering calculations for cables, switchgear sizing and scheduling
Proven experience as Requisition Engineer for major electrical equipment including specification, bid analysis and detail design development
Proven experience of electrical content for major rotating mechanical equipment
Working knowledge of electrical engineering databases and production of engineering deliverables using Smart Plant or AVEVA Electrical
Reports progress of the work and able to be responsible for planning and estimating
Capable of working at several small projects at one time
Ensures that personnel under their supervision are up to date on company/project standards and procedures and that they are correctly applied
Active in Continual Professional Development and keeping up to date on the development of electrical systems and future working methods/ software applications
Shows flexibility and willingness to help colleagues during heavy workload periods, holiday or illness cover
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Must have a Bachelor or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Typically has 8-10 years of detail electrical engineering experience
Must have a working knowledge of IEC standards and codes
Is familiar with codes and standards of NEC, IEEE, NFPA and ANSI
Is current on new scientific engineering methods and possesses a technical knowledge of the detail design engineering process
Is capable of appropriate use of computer applications and other specialized engineering tools
Must demonstrate leadership, social and IT skills
Proficient in English
Able to supervise less Senior Engineers
Good Communication skills (meetings, reporting)
Capable of working under pressure
Coach and mentor to junior Engineers
Able to interact with other disciplines
Able to proficiently use and judge output reports of ETAP
Able to guide integrated database approach
