Job Overview:

This position is a member of the McDermott Sustainability Leadership Team, which collaborates across business lines, Global Operations and projects, to deliver McDermott’s global sustainability program and strategy. Works with Business Development, Proposals, Commercial, and Project teams to provide sustainability input to early prospects, project tenders, and deliver sustainability work scopes on projects. Works with other McDermott departments to establish, promote, and drive sustainability initiatives in support of McDermott’s global sustainability program and strategy. The role is integrated with business line leadership and has a reporting line to Global Sustainability to ensure that activities are communicated and coordinated to align with McDermott’s global sustainability program and strategy.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Engagement with business line leadership, Business Development, and Commercial, teams to promote McDermott's sustainability capabilities and program for early prospects, new/existing clients, and other external stakeholders

  • Support business line leadership in driving internal communication, awareness, and engagement around McDermott’s global sustainability program and strategy

  • Engage with Proposals and Project Management teams to establish sustainability scope in prequalification requests for information (RFIs), invitations to tender (ITTs), and timing for submission

  • Coordinate with Social Responsibility and other Sustainability & Governance team members for bid responses

  • Compile the environmental sustainability portion of RFI questionnaires and ITT responses using previous examples, McDermott's Sustainability Report and brochures, FigBytes data and input from other team members

  • Develop sustainability plans, templates and strategy documents to support ITTs and for client engagement, taking into consideration the project phase, project scope, client sustainability drivers, and input from other departments

  • Contribute to the ITTs & Projects tracking register and identification of material ESG topics for clients

  • Lead/support the preparation of key sustainability project deliverables such as EPC emissions calculations, embodied carbon assessments, ECI calculations, GHG reports, sustainability management plans etc.

  • Coordinate the delivery of Social Responsibility and Human Rights aspects on projects with the Social Responsibility Lead

  • Use iDocs, and MS Teams, to access and keep a record of relevant RFI, ITT, and project documentation

  • Liaise with necessary internal and external parties as required, to identify and communicate emerging ESG regulations applicable to ITTs and Projects scope e.g. EU CBAM

  • Collaborate on the assessment and development of processes, systems, and tools for efficient and consistent decision making to imbed Sustainability concepts and goals in operations and projects

  • Provide input as required to McDermott's annual sustainability report and external disclosures such as CDP and EcoVadis, in line with TCFD, SASB, GRI, ESRS and other applicable standards

  • Support McDermott’s Sustainability Data Management team in ongoing measurement, tracking, analysis, and continuous improvement of social and greenhouse gas emissions data

  • Actively participate as needed in approved industry partnerships and collaborations, to support McDermott’s global sustainability program and strategy, e.g. the Shell Decarbonization Collaboration

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Relevant BA/BSc/BEng or graduate degree

  • Minimum of 10+ years, ideally within project management, fabrication/construction, and/or marine operations

  • Preferred location London

  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills

  • English fluency and strong presentation skills required

  • Excellent written English proficiency required

  • Project management, fabrication/construction, and/or marine operations experience preferred

  • Flexibility to work across time zones, occasionally outside of standard work times

  • Interested in being part of a highly collaborative global team
