Job Overview:
The Associate Telecom Engineer utilizes existing Telecommunications (Eng) procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to Telecommunications (Eng) and Engineering.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks related to Telecom systems as applicable
Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring
Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures
Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others
Clearly communicate information, asking questions and checking for understanding
Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements
Prepare sketches of detailed designs to guide Designers
Review MTOs for requisitions
Check drawings
Keep the Lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress, and concerns
Develop an awareness of costs related to own work
Develop a basic understanding of MDR's business and the customers it serves
Develop basic knowledge of MDR's business units and interactions including engineering, fabrication, and marine functions
Develop advanced skills in the use of standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Further develop knowledge of Telecom related systems (FDS, GDS, CCTV, TEL/LAN) and become familiar with other Telecom systems, such as Radio Systems (RS), Intercom Systems (IS), Public Address General Alarm Systems (PA-GA), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and/or Access Control Systems (ACS), etc.
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in electrical or Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (Master's Degree is Preferred)
Entry-level position, 0-3 years of experience in oil and gas
Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of a professional engineering society
Learn the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable
Learning design techniques and analysis methods
