Summary of Job Duties:

The Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor within the College of Engineering. Applications from all research areas are welcome. The Chemical Engineering department is home to 17 faculty members with diverse expertise spanning healthcare, energy, advanced materials, nanotechnology, and sustainability. With over \$26 million in endowments, our department also houses 5 endowed chairs and 8 endowed professorships supporting our research, teaching, and service activities. Successful candidates will meet the minimum qualifications and as many preferred qualifications as possible.\ \ The duties of this position include: (1) developing and sustaining an externally funded research program leading to national and international recognition; (2) teaching and mentoring undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows; (3) performing service activities commensurate with the position.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PH.D in Chemical Engineering or closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education, conferred by the start of employment

  • Demonstrated potential for high-quality research, including securing research funding and generating high-quality publications

  • Collaborative and interdisciplinary synergy with existing strengths on campus

  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-doctoral research experience

  • Demonstrated potential for high-quality teaching and service to the department, university, and profession

  • Strong commitment to quality undergraduate and graduate education

  • Commitment to promoting community and engagement
