Job Title: Material Handler

Job Description

As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for receiving and inspecting incoming shipments, storing materials and supplies within the warehouse, loading and unloading delivery vehicles, verifying quantities and serial numbers of deliveries, inspecting deliveries for damage, completing customer orders, and preparing shipments.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments for discrepancies and damage, and report problems promptly.

  • Store materials and supplies within the warehouse according to part number and/or description by safely performing physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and stacking by hand or using material handling equipment.

  • Load and unload delivery vehicles, including operating fork trucks, lifting and carrying merchandise, and stocking in appropriate areas throughout the warehouse.

  • Verify quantities of deliveries and merchandise serial numbers by comparing merchandise to packing slips.

  • Visually inspect deliveries for damage and notify management of discrepancies.

  • Complete customer orders by obtaining appropriate material from storage in accordance with picking ticket.

  • Prepare shipments by boxing materials, labeling with appropriate shipping information, and completing appropriate paperwork.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in inventory control and order selection.

  • Proficiency in picking, packing, kitting, and packaging.

  • Data entry skills.

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in shipping and receiving.

Work Environment

The work environment is loud and climate-controlled. The shift hours are Monday to Wednesday from 6 am to 3:30 pm, Thursday from 7 am to 3:30 pm, and Friday from 7 am to 12 pm (half day).

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Farmington, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00
