Job Description:
As a Field Technician at Capricorn, you'll play a crucial role in supporting our sales and project management teams from the field; providing our clients with exceptional project delivery and service in all areas of Audio Visual, Access Control, Camera Systems, Structured Cabling, Network, and Equipment Configuration and Install. Specific responsibilities shall include but not be limited to:
Field Tech -- Detailed Responsibilities:
Work with Sales and Project Management for review of and handoff execution of projects.
In coordination with Sales and Management Teams, review of project equipment, materials, shop drawings, scope of works, and schedule.
Understand, as outlined by the Management Team, how to coordinate and manage permit and inspection processes, if required.
Organize and maintain project As-Built documents.
In coordination with Project Manager and Engineer, utilize Trello to execute work scopes and schedule with managers, subcontractors, clients, and office staff.
Manage subcontractors and/or other Capricorn Field Staff, if necessary and if required, for execution of projects.
Assist Management Team for submittal of RFI's to architect/Engineer and disseminate response information to appropriate parties with appropriate urgency.
Stay in contact with Management Team utilizing company issued computer and phone devices to insure proper job communication and execution.
Complete system configuration and basic device programming with the assistance of the Capricorn Team and Tech Support as necessary.
Coordinate and work with Labor Field Superintendent for labor scheduling and manpower resources.
Understand and execute copper cable and fiber cable terminations, testing, and installation.
Read and understand blueprints (electronic or hard copy) and project specifications.
Be aware of and utilize BICSI standards for execution of all structured cable systems.
BICSI certification -- preferred
Understand the importance of proper cable path layout and installation for effective and code compliant cable installation.
Diagnose technical problems and issues with structured cabling and AV systems.
Perform basic and advanced testing using multiple Fluke testing equipment.
Fusion splice fiber.
Layout and management installation of structured cabling racks, supports, cable tray, closets, patch panels and owner supplied switches.
Ability to use basic hand tools, punch down, snipes, side cutters, battery powered drills, impacts, blink tester.
Terminate and test voice, data, AV cat 5-6a cable, single/multi-mode fiber, coax, control, plenum, and composite cables.
