TomTom North America Inc. Expert Data Scientist (multiple positions) in Farmington Hills, Michigan

Expert Data Scientist (Farmington Hills, MI -- Telecommuting Permissible) (multiple positions). Conceptualize, design, and prototype machine learning systems for large-scale road networks, parking, and traffic flow parameters, as well as, events based on vehicle GPS, trajectory data, onboard vehicle sensor/camera data and community input. Design and implement data structures, interfaces, and algorithms to enable storage, access, and aggregation of traffic and road network data. Prototype scalable, distributed data analysis algorithms in Microsoft Azure Databricks. Collaborate with software engineers towards productizing prototypes. Mentor junior data scientists. Contribute to patent applications, technical reports, intermediate and final research project reports. Presenting research results to technical and non-technical stakeholders. International travel two times per year for 2-3 days per trip to meet with employers' foreign affiliates in Europe.  Requires a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related field, and two (2) years work experience in the job offered or in a related position working with Agile software development methodologies. Also requires two (2) years of experience in each: (1) programming languages Python, Scala, Java, C++, SQL; (2) working with data sources aerial RGB and infrared raster imagery, aerial and terrestrial 3D point; (3) utilizing visualization techniques of remote sensing data in 2D and 3D; (4) utilizing "infrastructure as code" paradigm to deploy and manage resources on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform using the terraform software tool/language; and (5) 3D point cloud processing.
