Precipart Senior Project Design Engineer in Farmingdale, New York

Precipart, located in Farmingdale, NY, is searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team and be at the forefront of innovation! In this role, you’ll design and develop custom precision components and precision motion assemblies for cutting edge medical, aerospace, and industrial applications. You’ll also have the unique opportunity to work alongside a highly experienced team with specialized expertise in gear design, motion control systems and manufacturing methods, as well as collaborate with business unit members through all phases of product development. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the development of complex and innovative designs based on external (customer) or internal requirements, ensuring solutions meet high technical standards and client specifications.

  • Develop and refine advanced calculation tools, spreadsheets, and programs to streamline design processes and support precise technical calculations.

  • Guide and mentor team members in design and calculation methodologies; provide expert-level analysis to support designs, including leveraging historical data and product design precedents.

  • Lead and develop comprehensive bid proposals (quotations), including thorough cost analyses of components and labor, to support high-level customer inquiries and business development efforts.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally, coordinating design activities with Manufacturing, Assembly, Purchasing, and other departments throughout the entire product lifecycle to ensure seamless execution.

  • Organize and lead Design Review meetings with management, cross-functional team representatives, and customer representatives as required by contract.

  • Establish, document, and oversee rigorous testing protocols to validate and verify designs in accordance with contract requirements and company standards.

  • Lead complex testing efforts, utilizing both customer-supplied and internally developed procedures and equipment, to ensure design integrity.

  • Maintain a meticulous engineering reference library, including calculations, technical notes, customer specifications, and all engineering documentation.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters, overseeing their work to ensure alignment with quality and compliance standards.

  • Responsible for conforming with the company’s quality management system requirements, as well as contributing to its overall effectiveness, and the ultimate goals of customer satisfaction, product compliance and ethical practices/behavior.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electromechanical, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent relevant work experience.

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a mechanical, industrial, or electromechanical engineering design field.

  • Proficiency in interpreting and creating complex engineering drawings and blueprints.

  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, ERP systems, and Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with additional CAD and analysis software preferred.

  • Proven expertise in resolving complex technical challenges, process optimization, and in-depth technical documentation.

  • Strong project management skills, with an exceptional ability to prioritize tasks and lead team projects effectively.

  • Advanced problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities, with experience in leading cross-functional initiatives.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to interact effectively across departments and with customers, both verbally and in writing.

  • Strong attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to quality in engineering practices.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS / EDUCATION

  • Master’s degree or advanced training in related field is preferred

  • Electromechanical system design

  • Motor design and specification experience

    PAY RANGE: $95,000 to $110,000 annual salary
