Farmingdale State College Lecturer - Biology (Microbiology) in Farmingdale, New York

The Biology Department at Farmingdale State College invites applications for a Lecturer in Microbiology. Teaching responsibilities will include Medical and/or Oral and/or General Microbiology lecture and/or laboratory. In addition, the position may require student advisement and service on departmental committees; future duties may include course coordination and curriculum review and development.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An earned Master's or PhD in a field related to Microbiology.

  • Experience teaching Microbiology (or other lab courses that heavily utilize bacterial cultures) at the undergraduate level.

  • Ability to relate to and work with students in various aspects of their academic pursuits.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Multiple semesters teaching Medical Microbiology at the undergraduate level.

  • Course development and assessment experience in Microbiology.

  • Strong organizational and administrative abilities.

    Additional Information:

This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Wednesday, October 16, 2024, and ending Tuesday, October 29, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

  • CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Thursday, November 14, 2024

  • SALARY: $65,000 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $69,000 Compensation.

  • ANTICIPATED START DATE: Fall semester 2025
