Farmingdale State College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Technology starting Fall 2025. The Department offers ABET/ETAC accredited Bachelor of Science degree programs. The primary responsibilities include teaching and developing courses at the undergraduate level for the Mechanical Engineering Technology department. The candidate should have the ability to teach a variety of mechanical and manufacturing-related courses and be able to develop modern automotive courses. The individual must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be committed to the continuous improvement process and the outcome-based assessment of the programs to maintain accreditation. The candidate is expected to attract external funding to support scholarly research and other scholarly activities. Teaching assignments may include both day, evening, and Saturday courses.
All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. Service includes advising students and serving on departmental and college-wide committees as well as recruitment for the department. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and a high level of competence in teaching. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty and has the potential for peer-reviewed publications and presentations, both of which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
An earned PhD in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or Automotive engineering or closely related field.
Ability to teach courses at the College level.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional Engineering license.
At least three years of combined relevant industrial and teaching experience at the College/University level.
Additional Information:
This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.
For the first 10 working days, beginning Friday, December 20, 2024, and ending Monday, January 6, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Saturday, February 1, 2025
SALARY: $85,000 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $89,000 Total Compensation.
