The team you will be a part of
The Tax team ensures that the organization meets its tax obligations and objectives and complies with all relevant laws and regulations. Activities may include undertaking research; evaluating the legality and tax effectiveness of current and future business activities; preparing and submitting tax returns, tax declarations, and other required reports; maintaining tax records; and corresponding with external tax agencies or consultants.
This role in summary
This position within the Customs Compliance team will primarily encompass ensuring that all laws and regulations are adhered to when dealing with cross border transactions. This will entail working directly with suppliers, CHAs and internal process partners to support the international movement of products supporting the Whirlpool business. This may include export/import activities with several government agencies from various countries around the world.
Your responsibilities will include
Advisory and planning for Custom Act and Rules
Dispute prevention and dispute resolution including litigation
Regularly review the custom duty payment process and keep updating as per new
statutory requirements
Review of import shipment invoices to ensure compliance with custom duty payment
process
Regularly connect with CHA’s to monitor the custom duty payment process and drive
changes if required
Identify and create SOPs around all custom processes.
Handling Custom Audit.
Product classification as per Custom Tariff Act
Participate the Anti-dumping investigation and closure after interaction with relevant
stake holders
Handled DRI matter including summons , appearance and closure the litigation
AEO compliances
Monitor Custom ,DGFT notifications / circulars and suggest changes in process / rates
Minimum requirements
Qualification : CA
Experience - 7-8 years minimum
Preferred skills and experiences
Maintain database of international parts importation
Processing uploads/updates thru MDM
Stay informed for any updates or changes to the system
Look for areas of improvement to the system and cost saving thru MOOWR etc
Constant review of Free Trade Agreement ( FTA ) processes and procedures:
Solicitation and support of new FTA's yearly and as needed
General control/review over FTA’s to ensure benefits are claimed correctly
Monitoring the Form- I and related documentation
Import data review
Update/Review country of origin data monthly
Ensure data integrity through database comparisons across all data sources
Reporting to various government agencies including custom, DGFT.
Use problem solving skills to find new and creative ways for process improvement and cost
reduction
