Job Description:
The Business Intelligence and Data Management department of the IMS Segment is seeking a Lead Data Engineer.
This role includes orchestrating data ETL/ELT pipelines, ensuring adherence to data standards, maintaining data frameworks, conducting data cleansing, and ensuring data consolidation. The selected individual will play a pivotal role in maintaining ontologies, building scalable data solutions, and developing dashboards to provide actionable insights for the enterprise.
This position will support the segment’s modern data platform, focusing on data pipeline development and maintenance, platform design, documentation, and user training. The goal is to ensure seamless access to data, empowering decision-makers with clean, reliable data.
Essential Functions:
Lead the design and implementation of data architecture, including data models, databases, data warehouses, and data lakes.
Develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate data from various sources into our centralized data ecosystem.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, data scientists, and analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Implement data governance policies and ensure data quality, security, and compliance across all data systems.
Optimize data storage and retrieval processes for enhanced performance and cost-effectiveness.
Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Evaluate and implement new data technologies and tools to improve our data capabilities.
Develop and maintain data catalogs and metadata management systems.
Create and maintain documentation for data processes, architectures, and systems.
Work closely with the BI team to ensure data is accessible and optimized for reporting and analytics.
Participate in cross-functional projects to drive data-driven decision making across the organization.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data engineering and management.
Must have the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance which requires US Citizenship
Qualifications:
Must be a US Citizen
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
3 years of experience with cloud-based data warehousing platform such as Snowflake.
1 year experience with designing and developing data pipelines in PySpark, Spark SQL, or Code Build.
1 year experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Database Administrator (DBA), AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)).
Preferred Additional Skills:
Active DoD security clearance
Strong understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) and Data Warehouse (DW) development methodologies.
Experience with the Snowflake Cloud Data Platform, including data architecture, query optimization, and performance tuning.
Proficiency in Python, Pandas, Databricks, JavaScript, or other scripting languages for data processing and automation.
Experience with other ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory (ADF), SSIS, Informatica, or Talend is highly desirable.
Familiarity with connecting and extracting data from various ERP applications, including Oracle EBS, SAP ECC/S4, Deltek Costpoint, and more.
