NJ Employer Laboratory Manager - Food Microbiology - Fairfield, NJ in Fairfield, New Jersey

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Management of the microbiology laboratory including, but not limited to the services provided, staffing, policy and procedure review, regulatory compliance, positive customer relations, education / orientation of staff * Promote SGS image and service listings in a way which will further the company s objectives REPORTING: Senior Vice President of LSS North America SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: * Managing laboratory resources to meet given objectives, with focus on budgets, client expectations and satisfaction and regulatory compliance * Oversee performance of food microbiology testing services * Increase management effectiveness by recruiting, hiring, orienting, supporting and training of staff * Communicating values, strategies and objectives * Planning and assigning work to subordinates and monitor them on a regular basis; assigning accountabilities * Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards; enforcing ethical business practices * Develop and implement strategies and policies for the laboratory to achieve company s goals * Assist in developing budgets * Oversee operating costs and forecasts * Provide subject matter expertise on microbiology testing opportunities where needed throughout NAM in the food market * Anticipate and resolve potential client problems * Liaising with scientists within the SGS AFL Laboratories network * Liaising with the Regional and Global SGS AFL Marketing Teams to assist in the development of marketing and promotion content * Liaising with SGS AFL Regional Business Development Managers and Global Key Account Managers * Liaising with SGS AFL clients (new and existing), attend conferences and partnering events in order to gain mutual benefits * Revising contracts as required (Master Services Agreements, Work Orders, Confidential agreements) * Builds company image by collaborating with customers, community organizations, and employees * Maintain required KPIs at all times * At all times, adopt a safe behavior by exercising due regard for the health and safety of SGS employees and clients, in line with SGS policies and procedures * At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct Profile: * Four year degree in relevant field field (e.g life science, biochemistry, biology).
