Job Title: Systems Engineer

Job Description

As a Systems Engineering Technician for Tactical Control Systems, you will be part of a cross-functional team responsible for supporting system software and architecture design. This role is crucial in our commitment to providing the US and Royal Australian Navies with the highest quality software. We encourage candidates with experience in Systems Engineering requirements processes or those who have served in the US Navy’s Submarine Force as a Fire Control or Sonar Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Support system software and architecture design for Tactical Control Systems.

  • Participate in the design and review of Functional Design Documents (FDDs) for customer review.

  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to ensure the highest quality software is delivered.

  • Learn and implement new tools such as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, and IBM Rational DOORS.

  • Train regular systems engineers to use modeling software like MagicDraw.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in Systems Engineering requirements processes.

  • Experience with AN/BYG-1 TI18 APB19 or later Combat Control System.

  • Proficiency in IBM Rational DOORS.

  • Familiarity with the SAFe Agile Process Framework.

  • Bachelor’s or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent (4 years job-related experience).

  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain it.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior submarine service as either a Fire Control Technician (FT) or Sonar Technician Submarines (STS).

  • Experience in sonar or fire control technician work.

  • Experience in model-based system engineering (MBSE) and SysML.

  • US citizenship due to the nature of work performed within our facilities.

Work Environment

The position is currently onsite in Fairfax, with a planned move to Manassas in March/April. Initial onsite work is required, with the possibility of a more hybrid schedule after the transition. The role offers a 9/80 work schedule option.
