Naval Facilities Engineering Command MAINTENANCE MECHANIC in Everett, Washington
Summary You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC in the Public Works Department of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. Responsibilities You will plan, layout and complete the installation, modification and repair of systems. You will review blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, and technical manuals for new construction, maintenance, and repair projects. You will use hand tools (e.g., screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers) to assemble or disassemble equipment. You will coordinate with other crafts and trades to determine responsibilities in the completion of maintenance work projects. You will conduct visual inspections and operational tests to determine the need for maintenance or repair work. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Troubleshooting, repairing and installing a variety of systems for air cylinders, hydraulic, pneumatic, piping and cooling systems; 2) Troubleshooting, repairing and installing electrical circuits, systems, fixtures and controls; and 3) Ensuring work is in compliance with specifications and completed within required time frames.
