Under the direction of a radiologist, performs radiographic procedures at technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis. Assumes daily operational responsibility for designated area as required.
Primary Responsibilities:

Taking high quality images as requested by ordering providers:
Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking x-rays following established procedures and protocols
Instructs patients regarding procedures. Observes patients for vital signs during examination and places patient safety number one
Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment
Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis
Examines radiologic images for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification and distortion
Appropriately preps patient for exam by having them put on gown or shorts and remove any foreign objects including jewelry, buttons, zippers, etc.
Does quality control of images on DR/CR machine and Stentor. Checks to make sure all information (images and paperwork) are there for Radiologist
Authorizes release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination
A limited number of radiology technologists are assigned to assist with procedures
Demonstrate an understanding and ability to operate the C-Arm and its various functions under the direction of a physician
Operate C-arm to provide assistance to physicians with the following procedures; epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, medial branch blocks, caudal injections, neurotomy, port placement, cholangiograms, urology surgeries and ortho surgeries
Assist in ASC procedure room including; preparing procedure supplies and medications following infection control and sterile field procedures, documenting details and events during procedures, cleaning and maintaining equipment and work area, and maintaining inventory and ordering supplies
Completes orientation and training specific to ASC duties
Participates in ASC meetings and huddles
Releases radiologic images to patients in the form of a CD or printed paper. Release form filled out correctly and sent to HIM department
Participates in training employees and student technologists in equipment operation, patient movement, and quality assurance
Maintains the cleanliness of the Radiology room and equipment in accordance with infection control procedures. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
Graduate of AMA-approved school of Radiological Technology
Current ARRT certification
Active WA state license or pending application
Washington Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $23.22 to $45.43 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
