Department Description:
With approximately 100,300 ED visits annually, the CHA Emergency Departments are fast-paced, constantly changing environments with rapid patient turnover.
Summary:
Behavioral Health Clinicians within the Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES) are vital members of a multidisciplinary treatment team. The behavioral health clinician works closely with nurses, physician assistants, and physicians in a fast-paced, high stress environment, and is under the clinical supervision of the psychiatrist. The behavioral health clinician completes psychiatric assessments, provides crisis counseling, and implements treatment planning for patients in the PES. The behavioral health clinician identifies appropriate resources and obtains collateral information, as needed, from patients’ supports including family members, friends and outpatient providers. The diversity of the client population served, in addition to the treatment modalities utilized, requires interdisciplinary expertise and collaboration. The training responsibilities are assigned by the PES Manager in accordance with the training needs of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Training: Masters degree, Mental Health Counseling or related field
Current MA licensure as an Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker(LICSW)
Certifications: Must be credentialed by the CHA Medical Staff for practice in relevant clinical areas.
Previous Experience: Minimum of two years post Masters degree experience with acute psychiatric population required.
Physical Skills: Successful completion of physical agility assessment.
Mental Skills: Analytical, organizational, observational and documentation skills, including experience with electronic medical record documentation.
Experience with insurance authorization process, and knowledge of behavioral health resources.
