GE Aerospace CMC Raw Material Process Engineer in Evendale, Ohio
Job Description Summary
The engineer will be a member of the Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) and Environmental Barrier Coating (EBC) materials and processing team whose mission is to advance state of the art CMC’s and EBC's and enable CMC technologies for commercial and military aerospace applications.
In this role, you will partner with design and a vertically integrated supply chain to advance CMC raw material technology performing tasks such as materials development, characterization, and process qualification. Candidate that fills this role will be considered part of the Certifying Agent pipeline.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Advance technology and manufacturing readiness levels for CMC raw material processes and equipment.
Lead and execute on strategic CMC roadmaps that support component durability, performance, and cost out
Plan and manage engineering budget and resources on specific projects advancing raw material processing technology
·Partner with Design and Supply Chain to support CMC technology maturation programs, root cause investigations, and other process or material development to support current fielded products like LEAP and GE9X engines.
Develop next generation CMC materials and processes to support future commercial and/or military components
Support data analytics and modeling of manufacturing processes
Develop process and material engineering knowledge to review and approve process manufacturing changes for production qualification.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical leadership and expertise on program tasks
Participate on cross-functional teams analyzing and resolving problems
Communicate program plans and gaps to leadership and within work group
Document technical data and lessons learned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or other relevant degree
At least 3 additional year of experience within an engineering environment
Desired Characteristics
Knowledge of ceramic processing, materials behavior, and/or chemical production
Effective team building and project management ability
Graduate Engineering degree preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
