Job Type : Full-Time +, Non-Exempt

Pay : $47.18/hr. BENEFIT and WAGE package

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Obtains oral or written permission from property owners to trim or remove trees and apply herbicides. Discusses issues such as obtaining access, work to be done, etc., with customer or property owner.

  • Documents and maintains records of property owner notifications.

  • Performs inspections of worksites and identifies work scope.

  • Interprets easements and Real Estate documents.

  • Identifies local ordinances that affect work processes such as shoreland zoning, oak wilt, etc.

  • Obtains necessary permits to complete work.

  • Travels from job site to job site frequently as necessary.

  • Works in all temperatures and weather and will be exposed to nature, i.e., irritating plants and biting or stinging insects, dust, etc.

  • May work around excessive noise from machines, chain saws, wood chippers and other equipment with hearing protection.

  • May work on unlevel terrain.

  • May be exposed to dogs and other animals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.

  • Able to wear necessary PPE as necessary.

  • Able to safely drive an approved company vehicle.

  • Must be able to traverse various terrains.

  • Ability to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.

  • Endurance is necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight- or ten-hour day.

  • Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work).

  • Operate and service all required tools and equipment.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Organization skills and ability to multi-task.

  • Able to communicate and handle confrontations and stressful situations professionally.

  • Transportation to and from the show-up location.

  • Must affiliate with the union.

Education & Experience

  • Two-year minimum forestry, related degree, or 5 years of relevant work experience.

Pre-Screen

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

  • Driver License Required.

Physical Requirements:

RARE (less than 10%): sitting, kneeling, crawling, climbing poles, color vision, climbing stairs.

OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): squatting, stooping, climbing on/off truck, lifting up to 50 lbs., Reading, pushing, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs.

FREQUENT (up to 66%):, walking, hearing-speech range, body-twisting, manual dexterity, speaking clearly, lifting, carrying, pulling, balancing, lifting up to 10lbs.

CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): seeing, standing, sense of touch, seeing distant, climbing, gripping, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., reaching, range of motion, depth perception.

Safety

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.

As a full-service utility contractor Asplundh performs tree pruning and removals, right-of-way clearing and maintenance, vegetation management with herbicides and emergency storm work and logistical support. Asplundh is the parent company of UtiliCon Solutions whose subsidiaries provide overhead and underground line construction, planning and design, meter reading and AMR/AMI installation, electrical testing, and street lighting/traffic signal services. Asplundh also operates Rotor Blade Airborne Utilities Management, overhead electric distribution and transmission lines using MD 500 helicopters.
