Frontier-Kemper Constructors, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction and underground construction in North America and Canada, is seeking experienced candidates for Welder in our Evansville, Indiana location.

The position is responsible for constructing new fabricated products and repair work using SMAW, MIG and TIG welding methods while contributing to the overall atmosphere with a positive, safety conscious, and proactive attitude. Welders will build and fabricate equipment for use in Frontier-Kemper’s Mining and Civil Divisions, while also constructing new OEM equipment provided to outside customers by our Lake Shore division.

The essential functions of the position are:

  • Provide high quality and accurate fabricated items based on supplied drawings.

  • Must comply with all company policies and be able to work in a way that does not pose a threat to themselves and others.

  • Evaluating equipment to assess damage and wear.

  • Efficiently and accurately complete work assigned by management.

  • The safe operation of forklifts and overhead cranes to perform work.

  • Periodic facility maintenance and repairs to work areas in the shop.

  • Work overtime as needed.

  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.

The successful candidate will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • AWS D1.1 Certified for structural welding preferred.

  • Two (2) years’ experience with SMAW, MIG, and TIG welding methods.

  • Structural steel experience preferred.

  • Familiar with shop practices including machine work, mechanical repair and steel fabrication.

  • Ability to read blue prints and perform layout work.

  • Must supply own tools.

  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings and perform work layout.

  • Ability to communicate with others effectively.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with multiple team members in different departments.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
