Medicare Retention Specialist Overview:The Medicare Retention Specialist position works with current clients to help evaluate coverage and apply for new coverage as needed. Engaging with current clients on a regular basis to increase client satisfaction.

Medicare Retention SpecialistEssential Duties andResponsibilities

  • Solicit appointment with Medicare eligible individuals to review current coverage and make recommendations for alternative coverage.
  • Explain and enroll clients into Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage plans, and Medicare prescription drug plans.
  • Set up and execute end of year Annual Enrollment Period reviews and enrollments.
  • Keep current on Medicare issues affecting the goal and purpose of Senior Connection and its clients.
  • Review and research customer inquiries, obtaining necessary information from policies to respond positively and appropriately to resolve issues.
  • Documents all customer interactions in Senior Connection database.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare prescription drug plans, history of Medicare and issues effecting the future of Medicare.
  • Assist the VP and Office Manager with health fairs and educational seminars.
  • Expected to work without direct supervision and use personal judgment in facilitating changes in medical coverage where needed.
  • Scans and sends applications to companies for clients; Check policy status of submitted applications.
  • Maintain and update client mailing list.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have a current active Life and Health license in good standing in Indiana.
  • Associate Degree (A. A.) preferred, or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or six months to one-year related experience and/or training in Customer Service or Claims in a medical or insurance industry.
