  • Cleaning and preparing surfaces in preparation for work activities and for finishing.
  • Sweeping, scraping, sanding or chipping dirt and irregularities to clean base surfaces, correcting imperfections that may show through the covering.
  • Cutting flooring material to fit around obstructions.
  • Inspecting surfaces to be covered to ensure that it is firm and dry.
  • Trimming excess covering materials, tacking edges, and joining sections of covering material to form a tight joint.
  • Measuring and marking guidelines on surfaces or foundations, using chalk lines and dividers.
  • Cutting covering and foundation materials, according to blueprints and sketches.
  • Rolling and pressing sheet wall and floor covering into cement base to smooth and finish surface, using hand roller.
  • Applying adhesive cement to floor or wall material to join and adhere foundation material.
  • Laying out, positioning, and applying shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, or decorative coverings, following guidelines to keep courses straight and create designs.
  • Removing excess cement to clean finished surface.

  • Proven experience as a flooring installer with knowledge of flooring materials and installation techniques.
  • Must possess exceptional follow-up skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills - dealing with customer complaints in a timely manner to identify appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in a written, electronic, or oral format.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and various Internet applications.
  • This position requires a high energy individual, who is customer oriented and self-motivated.
  • Periodic evening and weekend hours may be required.
