FFP Food QA Technician - Temporary Position in Eustis, Florida
Floater position to cover 2nd and 3rd shift.
JOB SUMMARY: The Laboratory Technician performs administrative and laboratory duties established by the QC/QA Manager. Works in a manufacturing food environment around various machines involved in production. This position requires an individual willing to follow all established regulations, company policies, and cross-train in laboratory equipment, methods, procedures, and sensory evaluations.
SKILLS, TRAITS, & COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of laboratory tests and analyses a plus. Ability to handle samples and laboratory equipment.
Strong attention to detail. Organized record keeping.
Sense of urgency with ability to effectively multitask and re-prioritize as needed

Self-motivated, organized, and follows through to completion

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create, distribute, and maintain Certificates of Analysis
Create internal specification sheets
Coordinate required testing with third party lab, including creating and distributing transmittal testing forms
Ensures proper storage, organization, and disposal of retain samples.
File laboratory paperwork and understand multiple filing systems
Cross-train in preparing and performing sensory (organoleptic) evaluations
Cross-train in performing chemical and physical analyses on various samples, including raw material, intermediate and finished products. Tests include but are not limited to visual inspections, specific gravity, refractive index, flashpoint, brix, pH, moisture, etc.
Enter and look up information in different system databases (Batch Metrics / S2K)
Report out of specification results in a timely manner to responsible individuals and departments.
Cross-train in any applicable laboratory instrument calibration activities.
Follow established Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices including use of PPE.
Assist with general lab upkeep; Keep work areas clean and organized
Any other reasonable duty assigned by management
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelors or Associate degree in science is preferred
Prior experience in laboratory setting a plus
Ability to make mathematical computations
Ability to work overtime, off shift, and weekends as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Visual acuity required to perform inspections
Ability to work in high-temperature environments
Climbing stairs and ladders
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, and any additional requirements necessary for specific tasks such as cleaning and handling materials.
