Department Summary
The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. Position Summary
The Trades Maintenance Worker 1 works as part of a team, performing a wide variety of routine & semiskilled work assisting other skilled trades' people in the upkeep and maintenance of athletic department facilities. Tasks vary. They Include but are not limited to - plumbing, carpentry, painting, building maintenance & event support. The primary responsibility of this position will be Autzen Stadium, Casanova Center, Moshofsky, and PK Park. As events arise duties may be assigned at Hayward Field, Jane Sanders Stadium, Jaqua Center, McArthur Court, or as assigned by supervisor. Work includes general labor, painting, plumbing, carpentry, equipment maintenance/repair, routine electrical work that does not require a license, the care of sports surfaces, and tasks assigned by the supervisor. Work tasks are performed both inside the facilities and outside on the grounds/fields/parking lots and spectator seating areas.
This position is also part of the Essential Services group who are required to safely respond during emergency or unusual circumstances. Working closely with other staff members, facility occupants, users, and visitors to complete tasks requires the ability to effectively provide customer service.
Working environment:
• Indoors, outdoors, and In inclement weather when necessary
• Heavy lifting overhead, ascending and descending stairs
• Heights utilizing ladders, scaffolds, scissor lifts, and other above-ground locations such as roofs
• Dust, odors, and high levels of noise and occasionally working In and around chemicals and caustic compounds
• Personal protection devices such as face masks and rubber gloves
• Prolonged physical labor, walking, bending, climbing, and stooping
• Operate and respond to a 2-way radio
Special Requirements:
• Ability to obtain UO driver's certification within 90 days of employment and maintain throughout employment with the Athletic Department
• Ability to obtain UO forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift certification within 6 months of employment
The work schedule is typically Sunday - Thursday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. At times this position will require a flexible schedule with varying hours.
Minimum Requirements
• The equivalent combination of one year of facility and grounds maintenance experience

Preferred Qualifications
• Athletic field maintenance
• Irrigation repair experience or large grounds maintenance
• Knowledge of large facility key management system
• Familiarity with custodial responsibilities/skills for large event clean up
• Knowledge of Pest Control processes and procedures
• Familiarity with City of Eugene Storm Drain filter inspection procedures
• Work history showing three consecutive years facilities maintenance work experience In Higher Education, medical facility or large manufacturing facility, or similar
