Department Summary

Information Services (IS) is the central information technology unit at the University of Oregon and provides wide ranging services to campus. Information Services consists of four major functional areas: Customer Experience, which serves as the key contact point for interactions with campus clients and customers; Applications & Middleware, which manages and supports applications, integration services, identity management and data management; Information Security, which helps protect virtual or physical information; and Technology Infrastructure, which provides administration and support for the software, hardware, and services needed to support the campus IT environment. Information Services also includes the Advanced Network Technology Center. IS works closely with the Network for Education and Research in Oregon.

Position Summary

The Purchasing and Operations Assistant will report to the Associate Director for Enterprise Device Management (EDM), this position handles a variety of administrative and clerical functions related to technology purchasing requests. The Purchasing and Operations Assistant will assist Information Services in providing purchasing support, including but not limited to financial analysis, tracking of purchases and payments, serving as procurement card custodian, processing payments, purchase orders, journal vouchers and purchasing technology and supplies for Information Services and supported departments. This position will oversee the receiving of all orders, monitoring all orders through the entire process from ordering to the delivery to customer, will follow up with vendors and shippers with issues, coordinate delivery of items to support teams and assist with any needed returns. This position will work in partnership with Information technology staff from across our department to facilitate customer technology purchasing needs. This position will provide guidance and leadership to one or more student worker positions.

Minimum Requirements

• 12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of Accounting courses

AND

• An Associates Degree in Accounting; OR

• One year of experience that includes entering, compiling and/or reporting financial information; OR

• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional Competencies

• Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel.

• Excellent problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with purchasing, receiving or accounting.

• Experience working within a higher education institution.

• Experience or working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint.

• Prior experience and/or knowledge with fund accounting.
