Heartbeat Music Academy Toddler Teacher in Escondido, California

Definition

Under the direct supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Toddler Teacher will be responsible for the care and development of infants, toddlers or preschoolers, ages 2-5 years of age. Ensure compliance with California State Department of Education Title 5 Funding Terms and Conditions, Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Title 22 Child Day Care Center Regulations, Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP) and Heartbeat Music and Performing Arts'(HBMPAA) Academy's Preschool for the Arts procedures and supervisor of classroom, Teaching Assistants, Volunteers, and Interns.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, supervising, and implementing the program for the group in accordance with the policies procedures, and philosophies specified within Title 5 and Title 22 regulations and HBMPAA Infant and Toddler Program.
  • Assisting in the order, arrangement design, appearance, and safety of the learning environment of the classroom that reflects the quality and developmentally age-appropriate environments for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of learning materials and equipment in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Observing enrolled children, completing weekly and entry of observations within the DRDP tech system.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations and assessments using the DRDP System. Formulating short- and long-term goals for each child based on ongoing observation and assessment and in conjunction with the teaching team and parent input.
  • Maintaining each child's portfolio anecdotal records and DRDP on a weekly basis.
  • Designing the program to the individual needs of each child incorporating interests, strengths, weaknesses, family, cultural and linguistic diversity.
  • Record daily services provided to each child within the My Day Log (i.e., meals, food, naps, and daily activities).
  • Ensure special diets, medical-based diets, or special accommodations required are adhered to and implemented. Always maintain records in a confidential manner.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences according to the timelines specified with DRDP and as the need arises.
  • In conjunction with the Center Director complete referrals in a timely manner.
  • Complete timely and accurate records and reports such as My Day Log, Child Incident Accident Injury Report, 15-Minute Ratio Increment, Daily Staff Child Ratio, Monthly Attendance Reports, and Daily Meal Count Reports.
  • Establish, and design indoor and outdoor environments according to the Infant Toddler Environmental Rating Scale (ITERS) or Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) always achieving and maintaining a minimum of score of five.
  • Conducting daily facilitates Health and Safety Checklist. Reporting to Center Director at the time of notice, noted health and safety issues. Provide input as required in the Potential Area of Concern record.
  • Ensure daily sanitation of material, and equipment, inclusive of laundering bedding, washing clothes and bibs.
  • Establish a weekly rotational assignment daily cleaning sanitation responsibility that assumes an equal share of the daily housekeeping responsibilities (i.e. wiping tables, chairs, sinks, counters, sweeping floors, discarding waste trash, disinfecting toys and equipment.
  • Participate in program evaluations (DRDP and Annual Report CMR). Providing input and developing plans of action as requested.
  • Participate in community events as needed.
  • Attending scheduled meetings and training as needed (i.e., Annual Staff Orientation, ECERS, ITERS, DERP, and mandatory Nutrition Services Division (NSD) training as applicable).

Minimum Qualifications

  • The Toddler Teacher must have completed at least 12 postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Applicant must be able to provide a copy of transcripts showing successful completion of qualified coursework.At least three of the uni s shall be related to the care of infants or shall contain instructions specific to infants.
  • The Toddler Teacher must have a minimum of six months of experience in a licensed childcare center comparable group childcare program.
  • Must complete 8 hours of Health and Safety training. Additionally, the Toddler Teacher must complete Mandated Reporting Training, CPR, and First Aide Training.
  • Must have a valid Teacher's Permit or be able to obtain a Teacher's Permit prior to start date.
  • The Toddler Teacher must provide an updated Health Screening Report to include negative TB results.
  • Can pass a criminal background check (DOJ, FBI, and CACI)

Employment Period

Based on funding awards from the Center Based General Childcare (CCTR) or CSPP program, the Toddler Teacher will be employed for a maximum of 250 days per program year.

Salary and Benefits

The Toddler Teacher will be compensated based on the Adopted Salary and Benefits Schedule approved by the Board of Directors. Toddler Teacher rates are based on position classification, Teacher AA or AS with Teacher Permit or Higher. Teacher BA, BS with Teacher Permit or higher.

Pursuant to the Employee Handbook and based on funding availability, the Toddler Teacher will be afforded Health, Dental, and Vision. In instances of termination or voluntary resignation, employees will be afforded continuation of benefits based on the regulations outlined within COBRA.

Performance Evaluation

The Toddler Teacher will be evaluated by the Center Director formally and informally to provide continuous feedback for staff development and growth. By the 1st month of employment, the Center Director will complete the Environment Rating Scales and Child Development Monitoring Review.
