Western States Machine Setup Operator in Training in Erlanger, Kentucky

Check out our Western States Facebook page to see some of the fun things we do at Western States!We are seeking Machine Set Up Operators In Training (We call ‘em Adjusters in our industry) at our Erlanger, KY facility just minutes from Cincinnati. This role is to operate ALL machines in the department, set up work orders to specifications, troubleshooting, and perform daily maintenance and minor repairs on envelope folding machines. We are looking for candidates with hands-on mechanical ability who have had experience setting up orders on machines in a production/manufacturing OR candidates with experience in an auto/fleet mechanic environment.SHIFT AVAILABLE:2nd shift 4:30pm - 3:00am Mon-Thu or  + $0.75/hr shift premium.TRAINING:ALL training is completed on 1st shift. Comprehensive, 401k + COMPANY MATCH, and 9 PAID HOLIDAYS. SIGN-ON BONUS$2,500.00WHAT DOES MY WORKDAY LOOK LIKE IN THIS ROLE?Operates all machines in the Folding DepartmentExamines work orders to determine specifications.Inspects product quality according to quality guidelines.Checks orders throughout production to ensure accuracy of labeling, printing, and packaging.Performs hands on daily machine maintenance, change overs, and set-up of machines.Minor machine repairs.Troubleshoots minor operating difficulties including analyzing machine operations, inspection of product, making necessary mechanical adjustments to eliminate quality variations and mechanical malfunctions.Performs machine wash-up and other general cleaning duties.Accurately completes paperwork to record labor, time and quality.Maintains accurate count of envelopes to boxes, cartons, and pallets.Packs envelopes uniformly and neatly into completed containers while keeping up with machine speeds.Places die cut paper stacks into the feed of the machine.Experience as a Set-Up Operator, Envelope Adjuster or Auto Mechanic experience.  Industry on an RA and/or WD machines in a position of similar skill set and level of responsibility within the Envelope Industry preferred but not required. 5 years machine set-up and/or repair experience preferred.Excellent hands-on mechanical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.Strong Analytical abilities: Analyzing machine operations, inspection of products, locating troublesome elements within machines necessary mechanical adjustments to eliminate quality variations and mechanical malfunctions.High School diploma or equivalentADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONSManual dexterityAbility to read a rulerStrong math skillsTeam playerAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally during an eight-hour shift.Ability to stand for approximately 60% of the time during an eight-hour shift.Willing to train for an extended period of time on First Shift before moving to home shift of 2nd or 3rd shift.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAbility to stand for approximate duration of scheduled shift (minus paid breaks), lift up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally, repetitive grasping, frequent, twisting, lifting above shoulder height, occasional bend, reach, crouch, or stoop. Sensory requirements are tactile/touch with hands and digits, near and far visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Reasoning, mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills for appropriate operations of the equipment.
