This role involves sorting and compacting paper into bales and other duties such as material handling and receiving.SHIFT AVAILABLE1st Shift 7am - 3pm Monday-FridayWHY CHOOSE WESTERN STATES?In addition to making bales and driving a powered industrial truck, you would have the opportunity for a FIRST PAY INCREASE at 30 DAYS, THEN EVERY 90 DAYS until the top rate is achieved. The starting rate is negotiable, top rate is $16.43. COMPREHENSIVE BENEFITS, 401K + COMPANY MATCH, and 9 PAID HOLIDAYS!WHAT DOES MY WORKDAY LOOK LIKE IN THIS ROLE?Identifies various grades of paper and waste accumulated in the baler areaDetermines what grades have enough to make a baleFills baler hopper using a cart tipper, bands, and ties completed bale with wireUses lift truck to remove and weigh bale, records weight, and loads bale into semi-truck trailerUses lift truck to put away raw materials in plant and warehousePerforms safety checks on trailer and lift truckEnsures empty waste carts are available for manufacturingHelps in other departments in manufacturing by doing other general labor duties as neededSUCCESSFUL PEOPLE IN THIS ROLE HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLSManual dexterityStrong initiativeTeam playerAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPrior Warehouse or Manufacturing experience preferredESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAbility to stand for the approximate duration of scheduled shift (minus paid breaks), lift to 50 lbs, repetitive grasping, twisting, lifting above shoulder height, occasional bend, reach, crouch, or stoop. Sensory requirements are tactile/touch with hands and digits, near and far visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Reasoning, mechanical aptitude, and mathematical skills for appropriate operations of equipment.
