Who will you be working with?

As the Product Engineer with you will work with the Digital Intelligence Supply Chain team to develop sourcing strategies for designed components. You will also collaborate with suppliers to incorporate feedback into the design process. You will be expected to lead installation design and development for installation of Digital Intelligence hardware across customer locomotives both Wabtec OEM manufactured and others.

How will you make a difference?

The Product Engineer will be responsible for contributing to the deployment of Digital Onboard Solution Engineering (DOSE) products such as the GoLINC™, LIG, Trip Optimizer, End and Head of Train, Electronic Brake Systems, Video and Event Recording products both directly to customers through field retrofits (FMI’s) or through Wabtec’s global footprint of manufacturing facilities for locomotives.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.

  • 1+ year of hands-on design, requirements development and implementation experience involving; Engineering Systems, Hardware / Software Engineering, and/or Data Information Systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment.

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Lead installation design and development for installation of Digital Intelligence hardware across customer locomotives both Wabtec OEM manufactured and others

  • Work with supply chain team to develop sourcing strategies for designed components. Collaborate with suppliers to incorporate feedback into the design process.

  • Attend and supervise onsite installation activities and collect feedback during the process to incorporate into the design

  • Train and supervise installers on the processes defined in the authored installation procedures

  • Author digital electrical schematics based on the retrofit designs to depict the integration of the Digital Intelligence hardware with locomotive interfaces

  • Author engineering change requests / orders to define parts, bills of materials, etc… associated with the installation of Digital Intelligence hardware

  • Author system design specifications that translate the Digital Intelligence systems and solutions to the locomotive sub-systems for integration into factory built locomotives

  • Understand the customer usage of Digital Intelligence products and how customers interface to the products to author user manuals, troubleshooting guides and maintenance manuals for Digital Intelligence equipment

  • Present engineering designs with analysis and decision-making logic for review by fellow team members and incorporate feedback and iterate as necessary

  • Author mechanical drawings as required to translate engineering design to manufacturing teams

  • Implement engineering change orders and engineering work orders within Digital Intelligence ERP systems

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between

$54,700.00-$72,500.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
