UPMC Office Assistant I - OSME in Erie, Pennsylvania

Responsibilities:
Verify and update necessary information and records in both the medical record and computerized scheduling systems.
Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patient appointments, and relay messages to staff and providers as needed.
Greet and register patients promptly and courteously; provide instructions and inform the appropriate department or person of their arrival.
Maintain a clean and organized waiting area, including beverage stations and reading materials.
Prepare patient charts for upcoming appointments to ensure readiness.
Answer phones, screen calls, take messages, and provide information to callers.
Keep physician schedules up-to-date, ensuring accurate patient scheduling and appointment confirmations.
Complete paperwork such as encounter forms and referrals, and use the computer system for generating billing information.
Address patient inquiries about appointments and testing while adhering to all UPMC Health System policies and maintaining strict confidentiality.
Utilize the automated financial management system for scheduling, information verification, entering charges, and handling co-payment collections and reconciliations.
Required:
High school diploma or GED
1 year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
Preferred:
Knowledge of medical terminology
Word processing and computer experience
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
