Description

The Senior Groundwater Modeler/Hydrogeologist will be responsible for developing and managing the technical scope of work and field investigations, data analysis, developing conceptual site models and groundwater numerical models, groundwater resource evaluations, open pit, and underground mine dewatering assessments and designs, and reporting to support the needs of mining clients in the US and abroad. This position requires attention to detail, good organizational skills, and superior written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with the NewFields team, clients, regulators, and vendors.

Requirements

Education Requirement: A Master’s Degree in Hydrogeology or related fields such as geology, hydrology, hydrochemistry, civil/geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, and water resource engineering.

Experience Requirement: 8 to 14 years of experience working in the mining or water supply sectors. Specific experience relating to mine water management is advantageous.

Computer Software: Proficiency using Access, AQTESOLV, GIS software, and GW Vistas / MODFLOW is required. Proficiency using modeling programs such as FEFLOW, GoldSim, and Leapfrog is advantageous, as is experience with VBA, python, or any other scripting language.

Required Registrations/Professional Designations:Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer registration is advantageous.

Required Travel: Domestic and foreign travel is required. The percentage varies depending on staff level and project needs, but it could be approximately 10 - 15%.

Position Location: Lone Tree, Colorado

Physical Demands:The position may require sitting for long periods of time, working on a computer for extended hours, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Field assignments are located in a variety of climactic conditions and may require standing, squatting, bending, the use of machinery, and a variety of tools.

Language Skills:Proficiency in Spanish or a strong desire to learn is advantageous.

Position Requirements

  • Primary responsibilities will be to develop conceptual site models and numerical groundwater models. Responsibilities will also include developing and managing the technical scope of work and field investigation activities such as drilling supervision, well construction, aquifer testing, packer testing, vibrating wire piezometer installation, surface and downhole geophysics, and groundwater and surface water sampling and monitoring.

  • Prepare accurate and professional technical reports and presentations.

  • Completion and project management of team-based project work, resulting in client satisfaction and the on-time completion of high-quality technical work products.

Salary Description

$110,000.00 to $145,000.00
