Robert Half CFO - Chief Financial Officer in Emeryville, California

Description

Our client in Emeryville is seeking a fractional interim CFO for a 3+ month engagement. Our CFO will be instrumental in running the finance department and providing strategic financial input to senior management. The role will demand a hands-on approach and the ability to manage complex financial modelling, audit management and biotech-related financial matters. The pay for this role is expected to be between $200-$280/hr. depending on location and experience.

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership to the finance department and oversee its operations

• Act as a strategic thought partner to the CEO, contributing to decision-making on financial matters

• Lead audit management processes, ensuring smooth interaction with auditors

• Evaluate the potential benefits of outsourcing the finance department and provide recommendations

• Conduct assessments of current systems and processes, and implement improvements where necessary

• Manage complex financial modelling tasks, providing accurate and timely information to support decision-making

• Lead a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement

• Communicate effectively with the board, providing them with strategic financial insights

• Utilize various software and platforms including Microsoft Office, Sage, Expensify, and bill.com to support financial operations

• Contribute to the strategic direction of the company, particularly in relation to pre-IPO and public financial matters.Ou

Requirements • Must hold a minimum of 15 years of experience in a financial leadership role, preferably as a CFO or equivalent.

• Proficient in Financial Modeling, with a proven track record of successful financial strategy implementation.

• Ideally, should have experience within the Biotech industry and a comprehensive understanding of the financial dynamics within this sector.

• Expertise in Audit Management, with the ability to oversee and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and financial standards and protocols.

• Should possess a bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree is highly preferred.

• Excellent leadership and team management skills; should be able to lead, manage, and motivate teams.

• Must have strong communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying financial strategies and complex financial data to stakeholders and team members.

• Exceptional analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.

• Should be well versed with the latest financial software and systems.

• A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is highly desirable.

• Must have a high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

• Familiarity with mergers, acquisitions, and investment strategies is preferred.

• Deep understanding of risk management practices and governance frameworks.

• Should be comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

• Familiarity with data analysis and financial forecasting.

• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with investors, financial institutions, and other external stakeholders.
