Actalent Travelling Environmental Test Technician in Elmhurst, Illinois

Job Title: Environmental Test TechnicianJob Description

Our new Environmental Test Technician will be based in Denver, CO. This role involves performing third-party EPA air emissions testing and monitoring for our clients, primarily industrial or manufacturing sites. You will be responsible for the transportation of equipment to site using a company vehicle, and the setup and breakdown of testing equipment. Your tasks will include recording data, collecting samples, performing equipment calibrations, and assisting engineers in air quality testing procedures. You will also be expected to adhere to environmental, health, and safety protocols, organize and load testing equipment into vehicles for upcoming jobs, and maintain and clean testing equipment. Using company resources, you will study for and obtain certifications for EPA Test Methods 1-5.

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Elmhurst, Illinois.

Work Environment

You will primarily be working out in the field on industrial sites such as power plants, steel mills, refineries, and manufacturing plants. Some jobs may require working at heights of 100 to 400 feet above ground level. Workdays can be 8-10 hours long in the field or 8 hours when working in the warehouse. You will always be working in a team that can range from 3 up to 20 members depending on the project. Appropriate work attire includes jeans, long-sleeve t-shirts, boots, coat, and a stocking cap for colder months. Travel may vary from week-to-week, with jobs ranging from a single day to an entire workweek. During inclement weather or the slower winter season, work will typically be in the warehouse/home office. For larger projects, you may work long days, and upwards of 60 hours/week when including hours worked on site and paid travel time.
