Pacific Air Forces Supervisory Recreation Assistant (Bowling) in Elmendorf AFB, Alaska

Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Polar Bowl bowling center on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. Regular Full-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 35 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Responsibilities Works under the supervision of the Bowling Center Manager who makes assignments and provides instructions for new or unusual projects/situations.Responsible for the overall supervision of the Bowling Center in the absence of the center manager. Assisting with planning, organizing and coordinating the details of recurring and non-recurring duties of the bowling center. Assists in establishing and promoting a viable Bowling Program, catering to the needs of the patrons and their dependents. Keeps abreast of the changing trends and requirements by means of surveys, pertinent publications and other indicators. Responsible for the preparation of and control of daily reports, to include preparation of nightly deposits, supporting paperwork and opening and closing procedures. Supervises the staff of the food and beverage operation and the recreation aid employees to include allocation of duties and compiling of work schedules. Approves Time & Attendance reports in a timely manner. Continually evaluates effectiveness and appeal of programmed activities through personal observation and report findings and recommends changes to the manager. Instruct staff and patrons on the use of various equipment within the facility such as, automatic scoring and league secretary software, required to systems and forms as directed. Obtains quotes and places orders for retail merchandise and supplies. Makes official purchase requests to maintain adequate stock to meet customer needs. Assists in all marketing and publicity to include development of new programs and events. Required to coordinate league and open play as needed. May be required to schedule and administer these/activities in the capacity of league secretary or tournament director or bowling center manager. Assures patron satisfaction by resolving complaints and other customer problems. Ensures proper conduct and decorum of subordinates at all times. Qualifying Experience: Must have progressively responsible experience in a military or civilian bowling center. Must have progressively responsible experience in a food and beverage operation. Must have supervision experience which should be at a sufficient level to ensure knowledge of how and why tasks are performed efficiently and effectively. Must have experience which demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Have the ability to deal effectively with individuals or groups to accomplish work or tasks. Must have experience in receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, or other procession of cash items when this includes direct handling of cash items and use of cash accountability control methods. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
