ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as production demands may require:

Job Requirements and Procedures: Essential

Grinding Areas: Visually inspect the Hammer Mill and air system. Listen to unusual noises

or vibration. Observe air system for proper operation and check dust emissions. Check

belts on conveying equipment. Clean magnet.

Load Out Area: Visually inspect for proper operation. Check for air leaks and excessive feed spillage.

Basement Area: Check steam system condensate pump operation. Listen to unusual noises. Visually inspect for feed and ingredient leaks.

Crumble Rolls: Visually inspect and listen to unusual noises. Observe belt condition.

Cooler Fans: Visually inspect belts, ductwork, platform, cooler fan, and belt condition. Listen to unusual noises or vibrations. Observe for dust emissions.

Pellet Mills: Visually inspect the oil level in the gearbox and add oil if necessary. Check oil pressure gauges. Visually inspect for oil leaks, feed leaks, shear pins, and hose conditions. Check the grease lubrication system to assure proper lubrication of rolls. Listen to unusual noises or vibrations.

Receiving Area: Visually inspect for proper operation of conveyors, elevators, and distribution equipment. Check for ingredient leaks. Check the air system for proper operation and dust emissions.

Mixing Area: Visually inspect mixer, bearings, conveyors, elevator, and distribution equipment. Check for air leaks and feed leaks.

Coolers: Visually inspect chains, drives, and side panels. Check for warm or hot f

Pelleting Areas: Visually inspect conveyors, elevators, air locks, and fines conveyors for proper operation. Check for air leaks or feed leaks.

Bin Deck: Visually inspect for feed leaks and dust emissions. Listen to unusual noises or vibrations.

Roof Areas: Visually inspect for feed and ingredient leaks and dust emissions. Check for unusual noises and vibration.

Feed Cleaner: Visually inspect for proper operation. Listen to unusual noises or vibrations.

Boiler room: Visually inspect water, steam, brine, fuel, or oil leaks. Test feed water and record readings on chart. Listen to unusual noises or vibrations.

Containment walls: Visually inspect pumps, tanks, and piping for leaks. Drain storm water as necessary and record amount drained.

Safety: Perform safety inspections of work areas and equipment as designated by supervisor. Document results of inspection as required.

Weekly

Preventive maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on feed manufacturing and associated equipment. This schedule will vary according to the differing types of equipment and process application. Complete, sign, and date all necessary paperwork or work orders to properly document work done on equipment.

Monthly

Inventory: Assist with inventories of feeds, ingredients, spare parts, etc. as designated by supervisor.

Safety: Attend monthly employee safety meetings.

Annually

Training: Complete and maintain all job-related certifications and training.

Performs other related duties as assigned to support production demands as may be specified by customer or client.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:

May be required to perform other job duties as required and deemed necessary by supervisor.

Notify the supervisor of any problems with equipment and/or processes.

May be required to obtain forklift license and learn to operate the forklift.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to physically perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Required to hold arms in front of chest at times throughout the work process. (Arm extension may exceed 15 inches)

Relaxed and/or full extension of arms below and above shoulder level.

Frequent and infrequent motion with hands, wrist, and arms.

Able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and/or climb the entire workday.

Must have good grip in hands and flexible wrist.

Must have corrected or uncorrected 20/20 vision.

Ability to work in an environment which has a constantly moving line of product.

Must be able to lift 35 pounds frequently and over 50 pounds occasionally.

MAINTENANCE – FEED MILL

Must be able to work at high altitudes.

All maintenance employees must maintain a working telephone at their residence.

Maintenance employees may be called in after regular work hours to make repairs or assist with repairs of mill breakdowns.

Maintenance employees must be available to work overtime on holidays, and weekends as needed to perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs

TRAINING REQUIREMENT/METHODS:

All employees are required to attend employee and safety orientation prior to performing the above duties. Once an employee completes this training they will be assigned to a Supervisor who will further orient the employee to the workplace, introduce him/her to employees and other supervision, demonstrate work assignment and explain ingress and egress procedures to and from work station. A training buddy may be assigned to new employees for a period to assist in further training and indoctrination.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places, extreme cold; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Work is performed inside and outside with inclement weather conditions.

SAFETY FACTORS TO BE AWARE OF:

Ensure proper operations and follow all safety rules and regulations.

Follow all guidelines for operating forklift, bobcat and locomotive.

Perform Lock-out Tag-out before operating or repairing machinery

Wear all personal protective equipment.

Clean tools and other equipment that have or may have contact with machinery or products.

Keep fingers away from pinch point
