The manufacturing engineer position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
· Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training
· Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency
· Prepares and presents plans for the above and coordinate deployment including training of team members
· Assists Operations in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training
· Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
· Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment
· Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results
· Designs, develops, and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods
· Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency
· Assist in the day-to-day resolution of problems arising on the production floor
· Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of manufacturing, quality, tooling, tool design, preventative maintenance and engineering processes/methods.
Knowledge of standard lean tools and concepts (5S, value stream mapping, flow, standard work).
Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects
Microsoft suite, Solidworks (or equivalent), Autocad (or equivalent)
Other Skills/Abilities
ASME Certified Manufacturing Engineer
AWS Certified Weld Inspector
Lean master facilitator certificate
Prior experience with advanced quality processes and tools (PPAP, FMEA, etc).
Six Sigma Green or Black belt certified
Understanding of fundamental business principles and practices.
Prior project management experience.
Knowledge of use of ERP system
Knowledge and use of Manufacturing Simulation Software
