Elizabethtown Social Center Executive Director in Elizabethtown, New York
PROGRAMMING Works with program staff to Analyze community recreation needs, interests and desires; responds accordingly by overseeing development of appropriate programs, events and classes; develops and assures compliance with program policies and procedures; Ensures that safety standards and precautions are followed in all Center activities; Remains active in the Teen Rec program on a regular basis, including assisting with administering Teen Rec program discipline as needed. PUBLIC RELATIONS Communicates with organizations, community partners, and donors on an on-going basis; Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with community groups and agencies; Seeks support from non-profit support organizations (e.g. NY Council of Nonprofits, Nonprofit NY); Represents the Elizabethtown Social Center in the community. FUNDRAISING Seeks community support and collaboration (e.g. in-kind donations; products and gift certificates for Teen Rec activities; sponsorships for events; activity and event collaboration with other organizations); Plans fundraising strategies and policies; FACILITIES Oversees facility and property maintenance in conjunction with maintenance staff; Works with staff to develop and adhere to a schedule of maintenance and repair; Reviews and inspects the facility, programs and operations for safety hazards and repairs; Hires independent contractors, as needed, assuring compliance with organization policy regarding contractors insurance coverage and the completion of necessary paperwork (e.g. W9 form, contract); Performs program set-up, cleaning and custodial duties, as needed. ADMINISTRATION Fiscal Planning and Oversight Generates and reviews financial reports on an ongoing basis; Prepares annual operating budget for presentation to the board and makes budget recommendations; Budget management: analyzes and evaluates expenses and revenues; reviews and monitors budget appropriations, ensures that the budget is adhered to; Researches the availability of grant funding and writes requests for funding. Brings large expenditures/capital improvements/major equipment purchases to the board for approval. Record Keeping Maintains archives and documents Social Center history; Oversees the maintenance of files and records; Reviews and files tax returns and liabilities submitted by accountant. Ex Officio Board Member Attends and participates in meetings of the Board of Directors, including the preparation of agenda, financial reports and other information required of the board to make sound decisions; Collaborates with accountant and board representative on a monthly basis to ensure sound financial
oversight and accurate financial records and reports; Understands financial reports and explains them to board of directors; Assures board compliance with NYS non-profit requirements (e.g. sexual harassment training, conflict of interest statements; confidentiality agreements; etc.). Human Resources Recruits, interviews, hires, trains and evaluates personnel; Directs, supervises and assigns work to staff; Ensures adequate staffing of the facility and for planned programs; Recommends staffing levels and personnel change actions to the board; Manages benefits; Processes disability, PFL and workers comp claims; Communicates and posts benefit and labor law information for staff; Assures compliance with NYS employment requirements (e.g. sexual harassment training, conflict of interest statements; confidentiality agreements; etc.) and other federal and NY Department of Labor laws Staff Development
