Job Overview:
The Lead EKG Technician will be responsible for overseeing and performing diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac health. The Lead EKG Technician leads and coordinates the daily operations of the EKG department, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tests, trains and mentors staff, monitors quality control and maintains compliance with hospital and regulatory standards, and collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support patient care and diagnosis.

Required:
High School Graduate or Equivalent
Epic and Muse experience
Certifications and Licenses Required:
EKG Certification
BLS through the American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements:
Shift working, 7am-3pm

Essential Functions:
Communicates with PD staff all pertinent info
Identifies problems and communicates to Manager immediately; offers solutions as appropriate
Documents the Assessment in the Medical Record, Hand-off Communication Record and verbally communicates to other caregivers Patient Handling/Movement Needs, on admission and daily
Distributes MD reading schedules and communicated with MD offices
Monitors department activity and reports to Director when Director is out of the area
Practices cost containment by: Only requesting needed supplies; working efficiently to complete daily work during the assigned time; doing things right the first time.
Performs EKG procedure as per policy and procedure
Medical/healthcare error/risk reporting
Downloads EKG data from machines to Muse System
Utilizes department communication systems: telephone, paging, and beeper systems as per policy and procedure
When scheduling patient, reviews nature and time requirements of requested examinations or contact manager to provide information
Schedules all departmental testing in accordance to guidelines set forth in policy and procedures
Attends regularly scheduled department meetings (staff meeting, in-service, training)
Maintains and supports all department QA/QI activities through team involvement when requested
Provides all aspects of EKG care based on established standards
Universal Protocol procedures for correct patient/procedure/site
Informing patients of Patient Rights and Responsibilities
Team Training/Interdisciplinary Care Planning
Understands the purpose and proper operation of alarm systems for which they are responsible for
Fall prevention measures for EKG positioning
Schedules appointments with patients, physician offices, patient units, and other departmental areas as needed
Independently seeks appropriate resources for continuing education activities relative to radiology nursing to maintain required evidence of continuing education (ECE) points annually
Treats all clients with respect and dignity
Schedules inpatient echo around outpatient appointments
Scans holter tapes/ discs, interprets and produces report for physician
Performs pulse volume recording as per policy and procedure
Assists with Stress Testing Procedures, EEG, Holter Monitoring, Pacemaker Checks
Assures maximum comfort, privacy and safety to all patients
