Position Description:
Performs central accounting and financial analysis functions according to established procedures.

Major/Essential Functions:
Prepare monthly reconciliations of the fixed asset/inventory accounting system to the general ledger
Prepare monthly and year-end reports as scheduled, requested, and/or required for external reporting.
Reconcile balances in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
Assists in reviewing, interpreting, and correcting all information in the fixed asset and operating ledgers.
Performs and verifies data entry of acquisitions and other changes into the fixed asset/inventory system.
Communicates and trains the campus on fixed asset accounting and related processes for the institution.
Performs research, journal entries, and fixed asset entries, as needed.
Performs asset value management- asset capitalization, asset depreciation, retirement, and disposal.
Assigns tag numbers to fixed assets.
Assigns depreciation for all capital assets.
Reviews purchasing requisitions to determine appropriate coding and classification.
Maintains equipment inventory records, fixed asset inventory, and surplus property disposals.
Performs on-site inventory audits at various times throughout the school year.
Analyzes and reports the asset status for property inventory certification.
Maintains monthly reconciliation for all new construction, renovations, and capital projects.
Maintains open communication with supervisors regarding the status of projects.
Acts as support to report writer in Cognos to extract and collect data according to functional departmental needs. Modify, update, or test existing reports for accuracy as necessary.
Provide basic Cognos training
Prepares, reconciles and assist on year-end duties.
Ensures compliance with internal controls and policies and procedures in accordance with Comptroller state property accounting policies and procedures.
