CENTER AGAINST FAMILY VIOLENCE Children's Program Coordinator in EL PASO, Texas
Experience/
Education:
Masters degree or Bachelors degree in early childhood development, elementary education, social work, or psychology from an accredited university. Prior experience in working with children, especially vulnerable populations. Supervisory experience, particularly with interns and volunteers. Ability to coordinate large and small group activities for children. Experience in providing parenting education.
Language: Bilingual (English and Spanish) is required to communicate with clients and staff.

Driver's License: Standard Class C
Texas drivers license is required to complete assigned job tasks.

Duties:
Children's Program Coordinator include developing and implementing an effective childrens program for CASFV Emergency Shelter and Family Resource Center clients. Position will also act as a Center Against Sexual and Family Violence representative during public events. Perform other duties as assigned. Evening and weekend work may be necessary.
Supervise the Child Advocates and Child Development Specialists including monitoring progress, managing scheduling, and providing ongoing guidance and training to staff.
Oversees and supports in the coordination, planning, and implementation of activities for resident children to include field trips, special events, educational activities, arts and crafts, and cultural enrichment activities with Advocates and Child Development Specialists.
Conduct a comprehensive written assessment and service plan with resident children and their parents at the shelter within 72 hours of their entrance into the facility and at time of intake with non-residential clients.
Advocate for children and their parents within the various community systems (e.g. medical, social, educational, criminal justice, etc.)
Serve a liaison for children between schools and community agencies, when necessary.
Facilitate development, implementation, and evaluation of childrens program for children residing in the shelter and for children whose parent(s) are clients of the Family Resource Center.
Oversees and supports in the development, planning, and implementation of parenting classes and age appropriate support groups and safety planning for school age children.
Learn and follow Centers HHSC and TDPRS guidelines and policies in reference to the childrens program and government protocols for handling mandatory reporting of child abuse/neglect cases.
Ensure support and follow up with children and their parents regularly.
Provide hospital accompaniment to support sexual assault survivors during sexual assault examinations, on a monthly on-call and rotation basis for 4 shifts per month, of which two are evening or weekend.
Rotate 24-hour supervision of th Shelter (through established on-call system) with other designated supervisors.
Supervise volunteers and/or interns which may be assigned to childrens program. Work closely with Volunteer Coordinator to assure volunteer/intern tasks are assigned appropriately, orientation provided, and evaluation process completed.
Facilitate conflict resolution between clients and/or staff.
Keep current records and statistics on activities, case notes, and maintenance of child files, including inputting data into data system.
Participate in case staffings as needed.
Participate in development and ongoing evaluation of the childrens programs.
Maintain meaningful involvement between clients and agency staff.
Provide professional development to CASFV staff related to the childrens program.
Plan and coordinate other special activities, such as camp programs, spring, summer and fall, and other activities.
Complete training and continuing education requirements in areas of domestic violence, sexual assault, and related fields. Submit documentation reflecting all training attended to administration for personnel file.
- Increase the Centers visibility in the community by attending assigned meetings and participating on behalf of the agency.
- Make community presentations on an on-call basis.
- Represent the agency positively at all times.
- Respect clients at all times.
