Major/Essential Functions:
Mentors faculty, residents, and medical students
Engages in and promotes scholarship and quality improvement initiatives within the Division and the Department
Fosters a culture of collaboration access service lines (trauma, pediatric surgery, pediatric emergency medicine) to care for critically ill patients
Provides comprehensive care for seriously ill newborns, infants children, and adolescents or those needing a high level of monitoring in a pediatric intensive care unit
Supervises medical students, residents, and advanced practice professionals in the hospital setting
Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and scholarship
Services the academic community through participation in institutional governance such as committee work
Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complimentary to the institutional mission
Ensures compliance with HIPPAA and billing regulations
Demonstrate Professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Required Qualifications:
M.D. or D.O. degree, or foreign equivalent
Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatrics Residency Program
Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program
Texas medical license, or eligibility for licensure in the State of Texas
Board Certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics
A record of scholarly achievement in pediatric critical care medicine
Emerging regional or national professional reputation for rank of associate professor or higher
Training or experience managing patients on extracorporeal life support and in trauma, neurological, and cardiac critical care
Experience with the education of medical students and residents
