2nd Shift (4:00 pm - 2:30 am; M-Th)
Starting Wage $21.82/hr + $1 shift differential
The Machine Operator is an Individual Contributor responsible for the setup and operation of various pieces of equipment, including a Straightener to straighten and square pole shafts, cutting equipment/machinery to ensure poles meet final length and diameter, press brake to form product and material handling equipment.
Essential Functions
Responsible for machine set up, including setting rollers to specified lengths, and verifying dimensions from shop drawings
Observe operation and periodically verify conformance of machined work to process sheet, specifications and blueprint data
Maintain the cleanliness of work area including all equipment and machinery
Use overhead crane to load/unload machinery
Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoors

Important Details about the Role
Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty
Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery
Read and decipher blueprints and flat sheets without assistance
Accountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of these tools and equipment
Actively participates in department safety, demonstrates excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
This position reports to the Production Supervisor
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings
The ability to become Valmont trained and certified in the operation of an overhead crane
The ability to read a tape measure
The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people
The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment
The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds
High awareness for safety at all times
Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in the production facility
Read blueprints and specifications
Maintain a safe and productive working environment
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
One (1) year of previous experience in a heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment
One (1) year of previous experience with overhead crane operations
The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
Demonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors by conforming to all Valmont safety policies and procedures
Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
