U.S. Air Force - Agency Wide Supervisory Sustainment Services Specialist-DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY in Edwards AFB, California

In this position you will provide second-level supervisory and managerial authorities to the Sustainment Services Flight activities assigned. Provide focus and strategic direction within the flight to include the Dining Facility, Official Mail Center, Fitness Center, and Lodging. Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training. Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed and develops performance standards Develop vertical and lateral communication and feedback mechanisms to flatten communication. Effectively manage the flight's unit manpower document and POM as required to support the mission. Prepares APF and NAF budgets, which include the expenditures required to conduct the assigned programs. Ensures sufficient equipment (according to AFSVC standards) and supplies are available to provide comprehensive programming. Determines adequacy of facilities, identifies additional needs, and recommends facility construction/alterations and renovation projects and monitors repair and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, General Business and Industry Series positions located here SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 in the Federal Service. Specialized experiences with support of projects, programs or assignments providing a requisite knowledge of contracting, acquisition, procurement purchasing or related functions of the position to be filled, supervisory experience is highly desired. A 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major in any field OR At least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management is highly desired. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 1. Knowledge of APF business and trade practices, characteristics, and methods of administering and evaluating contractors performing Food and Beverage operations as well as Government Postal duties customers. 2. Knowledge of APF and NAF business and trade practices, characteristics, and methods of delivering Fitness and Sports programming to customers. 3. Knowledge of NAF business and trade practices, characteristics, and methods of delivering Lodging and Sundry services to customers. 4. Knowledge of program and facilities management, safety, fire, and environmental regulations, practices, and procedures, as well as facility design and equipment selection and purchase. 5. Skill in teaching and communicating effectively with others both orally and in writing to promote and report on the program, and to resolve problems and answer questions relating to the program. 6. Skill in preparing budgets, program evaluations, and facility administration; managing financial and physical resources of the assigned programs; and in effectively organizing and utilizing available resources within the program framework. 7. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with individuals, co-workers, contractors, and leaders of both on and off base organizations. 8. Ability to dissect customer desires and siphon them into a proposed plan of action to improve service. Education Additional Information NO 6-MONTH WAIT!
