Your Opportunity

We are in pursuit of an experienced Investor Relations professional who is interested in joining Stantec’s strong multidisciplinary team to grow their career. You are a self-starting, strategic thinker with the capacity to work towards long-term objectives and respond positively to dynamic work environments with evolving priorities. As a strong communicator, you are comfortable speaking with members of the capital markets and executives and senior leaders across the Company. You have strong competencies in writing, financial modeling and analysis, content development, presentation design, relationship management, and you’re familiar with the rules and regulations that govern the capital markets. You are results driven, accurate, and comfortable working across a wide range of teams including accounting, finance, marketing, communications, sustainability, and corporate development. The Senior Investor Relations Specialist reports to the Vice President, Investor Relations and works closely with both the chief executive officer and chief financial officer.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze, prepare, and present financial analysis of key valuation indicators across industry peer group through quarterly benchmarking and trend evaluation.

  • Monitor, analyze and evaluate sell-side financial models and research for Stantec and peers, and provide executive level summaries.

  • Develop and maintain the IR Monthly report for executives and leadership across the company and liaise and interact with executive leadership for various requests.

  • Monitor and report on research analyst investment ratings, target prices, earnings estimates, and various other financial and operating metrics.

  • Manage and respond to incoming sell-side analyst and investor requests to provide appropriate public information while liaising and maintaining strong, positive relationships.

  • Maintain Investor Relations contact database, keeping records of all activities, and evaluating meeting trends, questioning, and messaging.

  • Stay current on peer and industry news and trends and topics that drive investor interest and how they may (or may not) affect Stantec’s business.

  • Find innovative new ways to continuously improve messaging and stay at the forefront of peers.

  • Liaise with internal research group to monitor market and peer data, policy decisions that might impact the organization, and bring forward developments of interest.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications on external communications to maintain consistent messaging, ensuring all communication is appropriate for external delivery.

  • Develop quarterly disclosure materials including press releases, conference call scripts, key messages, Q&As and presentations for senior management.

  • Contribute and assist with the MD&A and the annual report.

  • Assist in identifying and validating new potential investors based on peer analysis and quantitative targeting.

  • Manage news release dissemination for all Investor Relations activity and required notifications.

  • Manage Investor Relations website content in partnership with other internal teams.

  • Partner with internal Marketing and Communications team to coordinate project news releases and manage relevant content for wire purposes.

  • Partner with internal teams to develop any other reporting requirements.

  • Monitor ESG frameworks and regularly review and report on peer rankings.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent degree with a focus in Finance or Communications.

  • Further education, ideally an MBA, CFA or CPA, is highly desired

  • 7-10 years of Financial Markets experience, preferably in related industry.

  • Strong work ethic and appreciation of time-sensitive deliverables.

  • Very high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with associated confidence to effectively correspond with senior management and other levels of the organization.

  • Superior financial modelling, Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Expectation to maintain the strictest confidentiality.

  • Experience in Workiva and Adobe Creative Suite would be considered a plus.

Education and Experience

  • A post-secondary degree in Business/Communications or an MBA.

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience career experience with demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong external relationships.

Some travel may be required.
