Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative
Leads the day-to-day activities of a large team of Facilities Operations and Maintenance personnel.
Manages Facilities Operations and Maintenance personnel, to include motivating, developing talent, performing training, and writing performance reviews.
Analyzes trends and anticipates changes in the competitive or regulatory landscape to adjust plans as appropriate.
Acts as an escalation point for complex/high impact quality and safety issues/decisions.
Develops and implements key performance metrics that measure impact and effectiveness of the function.
Serves as key contributor to strategic planning and operating discussions with their direct manager.
Oversees the allocation of human resources to projects across Facilities Operations and Maintenance teams and assists reporting managers with balancing resourcing demands.
Develops implements and maintains plans for Facilities Operations and Maintenance teams to meet business needs, customer demand using available resources.
Provides expert resolution of issues and monitors integration of work within maintenance, planning and operations teams.
Works with their direct manager to develop plans and strategic direction for the Facilities Operation function.
Partners with Gilead business unit leaders to understand specific maintenance and operations needs and issues to help resolve problems and plan required projects.
Contributes to setting departmental budgets and manages spending and resources in line with approved departmental budgets and Corporate directives.
Technical
Maintain site’s high standard of equipment integrity and reliability.
Direct modification, repair and upgrade of equipment and facilities to meet site needs.
Ensure buildings on site are maintained to a high standard of safety and quality.
Ensure building management systems are designed and operated to enable optimization of energy usage consistent with Corporate Sustainability objectives.
Ensure site utility systems are maintained to a high standard of safety and quality and operated as efficiently as possible.
Ensure site grounds are maintained to a high standard of safety and quality.
Safety and Environment
Ensures facilities operations and maintenance are performed in a safe manner consistent with company policies and procedures.
Ensures regular EHSQ inspections of Facilities Operation and Maintenance work areas in accordance with schedules.
Ensures prompt reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents is conducted by the department staff as required.
Ensures regular EHSQ meetings occur in accordance with schedules.
Quality
Ensures that department staff training on required SOPs and GMP documentation is up to date.
Ensures that quality related issues are addressed promptly and are discussed in Team Lead meetings as lessons learned.
Reviews and suggests changes to Engineering/Maintenance and cross functional SOPs.
Other Duties
- As identified/assigned by management from time to time.
Basic Qualifications
The typical education for this position is a bachelor’s degree in a related field. The typical experience for this position is 12 years of proven facilities management experience at a
strategic level and extensive people management experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for the degree requirements on a year-for-year basis
