The Digital Technology Services (DTS) Associate Scrum Master's primary duties may include coordinating and facilitating sprint planning, retrospective sprint review, daily stand-up, encouraging collaboration within the scrum team and Product Owners, supporting the team and the Product Owner and helping with communication across Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. This role is expected to help the Scrum team remove external and internal blockers/impediments and shield them from external distractions. Should steer the scrum team towards the sprint goals and assist the Product Owner with Backlog refinement. Should be innovators who constantly seek ways to improve themselves and the team.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Associate Scrum Master at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Perform all scrum ceremonies like daily scrum, sprint review, and sprint planning in a way that ensures full team engagement.

  • Support the Product Owner in refining backlogs.

  • Conduct basic conflict resolution.

  • Foster close cooperation across all team members, encourage cross-training and support each other.

  • Facilitate basic communication and collaboration inside and outside the team.

  • Shield the team from external interference and ensure the team is fully functional and productive.

  • Foster self-organization and growth within the team.

  • Generate an agile mindset across teams through conversations and role-playing exercises.

  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be comfortably raised and where challenging the status quo to attain continuous improvement is encouraged.

  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, and/or applicable technical certificate, and/or equivalent related experience.

  • Minimum of 0-2 years of experience working in an agile software development environment, preferably as a Scrum Master.

  • General knowledge of Scrum development methodologies.

  • Experience with Agile / Scrum tools (e.g., Asana).

  • Delivery or software development.

  • Familiarity with tech stacks.

  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, a desire to learn, and interpersonal skills.

  • Relationship building skills.

  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Translation of complex technical concepts.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Agile work process.

  • Experience with customer focus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience working as a Scrum Master.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Certified Scrum Practitioner.

  • Certified Scrum Master.
