We are ready to hire a Project Manager to play a key role where you’ll be responsible for supporting the delivery of a diverse and exciting range of environmental projects across the UK. You will have the opportunity to manage smaller scale projects whilst assisting Senior Project Managers on larger (and often nationally significant) projects to aid your development. For the right candidate there is also opportunity to line manage and mentor junior members of the Environmental Project Management Team.

  • We deliver projects in the energy, major infrastructure, defence, industrial, education, and residential development sectors.

  • You will support the production of project proposals, determining project requirements including; scope, resources, programme, and cost estimates (budgets) for project delivery.

  • Develop and maintain project management documentation including project management plans, cost estimates and forecasts, risk registers, project schedules, stakeholder registers and project organisation charts to successfully deliver the objectives on projects of a range of scales.

  • Monitor and control the project schedule, manhours, budgets, forecasts, and expenditure as well as project progress.

  • Contract Management and contract administration, including change management.

  • Manage changes to project scope and ensuring that project governance is adhered to.

  • Lead, mentor and develop multi-disciplinary project teams, championing high quality delivery, whilst promoting a focus on health and safety as well as inclusion and diversity.

  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information.

  • Working with and leading multi-disciplinary project teams and suppliers.

  • Presenting as the face of WSP when interfacing with clients. Fostering and growing excellent relationships.

YOUR TEAM

The Environmental Project Management Team supports clients delivering projects throughout the whole project lifecycle. We work collaboratively with colleagues from technical specialisms across the wider WSP to provide our clients with the best expertise to deliver a wide range of projects.

This role will be based in our Edinburgh office within the growing Environmental Project Management team, supporting existing and new clients. We are a friendly team that support each other to develop our skills and grow our network in the business.

Qualifications

Essential :

  • Degree in relevant technical discipline (environment, engineering, building, quantity surveying, science, project or construction management) or

  • Equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant project experience

Desirable :

  • Membership of appropriate professional institution (PMI, APM, MRICS, MCIOB and/or Environmental Professional Institution) working towards chartership

  • Qualification/certification at professional level, for example PRINCE2, APM PMQ (APMP) or RPP

  • NEC3/4 accredited or an interest in working towards gaining accreditation.
